Selena Marie Gomez was born on July 22nd, 1992 in Grand Praire, Texas. Her occupations are an actress and singer. Her years active have started in 2002-present. She is mostly known for playing the role of Alex Russo in the Disney Channel original series, "Wizards of Waverly Place." Selena is an only child who was born to Ricardo Gomez and Mandy Teefy, a former stage actress who had Selena when she was 16. Her birth parents seperated when Selena was 5 years old and her mother remmaried to Brian Teefy in 2006. Her father is from Mexico and she has Italian ancestry on her mother's side. Selena began her acting career at age 7, playing Gianna on Barney and Friends. In August 2008, Selena confirmed of her future career:
"I am going to be in a band-no Selena Gomez stuff. I'm not going to be a solo artist. I think that I don't want my name attached to it. I will be singing and I'm learning drums and playing electric guitar."
